My Fall Wish List

Hey Guys!

I can't believe it's already the end of August! Summer flew by but in a good way, I had an amazing summer filled with weddings galor, tons of beach days, and great times with friends and family. This is my first week back after my 10 days off and it feels good to be back in the swing of things! If I had it my way, it would be fall half the year, summer the other half and winter just for the month of December. I'm a fall junkie. My husband and I actually got married Thanksgiving weekend because we both love the season that much.

Today I thought I'd share with you my wish list for this fall. Things I want, things I need... mainly things I want. Some are fall related some are just things I've had my eye on. First up, what's fall without a vampy lip? NARS came out with a line called Audacious which I'm dying to try. I have my eye on one particular colour though... Ingrid (que blissful sighing, ahhh).

It's a super dark violet colour with a deep red wine feel. STUNning. Can't wait to get my little paws on it.

Next up, this isn't just one particular item. On my fall wish list is a shopping spree at ASOS curve. For those asking where I like to shop, this is one of my favourite online stores. I love the styles and the sizes are usually right on. I love getting my clothes tailored to fit me perfectly. Everyone's body is so different and properly fitting clothing is so flattering and very important. I get a lot of my jeans darted and some of my blouses taken in at the waist as I need more space through the chest and shoulders. If you order something lean on the larger size and then have it tailored to fit you perfectly! It's worth the extra coin ;) Here are some looks I'm planning to recreate and purchase pieces from...

Next up jewelry, for those that know me (or have been to home studio) know my love affair with jewelry. This fall I would like to add some more pieces to my collection. Pieces that are more dainty and feminin. Also, rings. I want to wear a ring on every finger. Here are some from Asos I like...

An oldie but a goodie, Fresh Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask. I just ran out of mine that I have been savouring and using very sparingly because it is a bit of an investment. At around $100 for the jar, it's worth every penny. I love this mask, if feels like butter and leaves your skin feeling taught and plush. I feel it's soul purpose for me is hydrating and firming although it offers much more to the skin when used regularly. I will have to pop into my local Sephora at White Oaks mall soon and bite the bullet...

I've recently been watching the MM&L Show on youtube (literally obsessed and can't stop). Two best friends share tips and tricks on beauty, fashion, lifestyle, review products and are just hilarious. They have talked about this product in a few of their videos and now I'm just dying to try it. I think the best way to get it is off of but I'm going to look further into that. This product is by Jonathan and it's called Dirt. It's a texturizing paste that allows you to separate and create a piecey look, and let's you achieve that day-old-hair look that we all love so much.

There you have it, my fall wish list! Please share with me some of your must have fall favourites below in the comments section. As always feel free to contact me with any questions or to book me for your next event!

Have a fabulous day! oXo

Summer Must Have's of 2014

Hey Guys!

I recently picked up some summer essentials and thought I'd share them with you. If you follow me on instagram, you have probably seen a couple but I had so many questions as to what I was wearing in my recent photos, so, I thought I would fill you in on all of them! For me, summer is about ease, comfort and beauty! I want to look summer fresh but still naturally glam (a girls gotta stay up on her glam!). Check out some of my must haves below. I will be going through each individual product with you!

Beachy Dream Waves...

Nothing worse on a hot humid day than having to blow dry your hair for a half hour and getting all sweaty! I plan on taking the easy route a lot this summer by letting my hair air dry using these Marc Anthony products! First off, I comb all the tangles out of my hair so it's smooth, then I run an oil through it to smooth and help with frizziness. Next up I apply Strictly Curls Styling Foam in my hand and tousle it throughout my hair, scrunching as I go. Then I shake it out and turn my hair upside down a few times (still scrunching). Next up, I mist on some of the Beach Spray (can be used on straight or curly hair!), scrunch a few more times and call it a day. What's awesome is you can use the Beach Spray to touch up throughout the day as well as the next day to maintain the style. Also, these products smell amazing. That is hugely important to me when it comes to hair products. The beach spray smells like coconuts :) I bought these products at my local Shoppers Drug Mart - it was about $23 bucks for both.

Peachy Keen...

This product is a bit of a splurge but OMG, it's my new obsession. I may have to buy a couple other shades... uh-oh! The product is by Dior and it's their Addict Fluid Stick. I purchased mine here in London at Sephora White Oaks for $36.00. This amazing lip product doubles as a lipstick and a gloss. Takes away the two step application process and leaves you with a beautiful pigment as well as a deliciously glossy finish. It feels so silky smooth on the lips, I love it! I picked up #239 Frisson, a nude peach hue (it looks way brighter in the picture for some reason). All in all I am such a fan and will be rocking this all summer long!

Tropical Pink...

Another lip product I know, but I am going to be all about lips this summer. Keeping my eyes fresh and natural and focusing on lashes and lips! This product is unreal. SUPER pigmented, a little goes a very long way. It has a matte finish with a slight luster/moisture so it doesn't dry up and crack like a lot of mattes. It's creamy and long wearing - perfect combo. This colour looks quite a bit different on, I would say on me, it looks like a bright pink/peach pastel-ish hue. Picked this guy up at Sephora White Oaks for $20. My sister grabbed a darker hue called Mulberry which I may have to get next - a deep raspberry hue. Check out the rest of the shades here!

Dewy and golden...

This has been a staple product of mine for a while now, those who know me know I'm a sucker for a golden glow. This summer I will be religiously mixing this product with my foundation. It gives that perfect all over glow with a beautiful golden undertone. Sun Beam by Benefit can be found at Sephora as well for around $32!

I am an oil addict. Constantly running oils through my hair as I tend not to wash it for a few days and like it to stay smooth (ish) looking. I also use oils to hydrate my face and body. This little mini on the go oil is perfect for summer to through in a beach bag and drench yourself from head to toe after a long day in the sun! The Divine Oil by Caudalie is all purpose - body, face and hair! This little guy was $10 but you could grab the full size for $52.

Sweet Jasmine, Orange blossom and more...

Summer scents can evoke so many memories, beach days, cottage nights or dewy sunny mornings. Bath and Body Works says this candle is...

Fragrant, sweet jasmine, orange blossom and the fresh scent of fluffy white towels evoke the endless-summer feel.

Sign me up! Also, love the mason jar packing and mint green hue :)

Flower Crowns (need I say more?)...

I'm a bit of a flower crown junkie. If I could wear one everyday, I would. Our wedding was almost two years ago and my husbands' Aunt constructed me one of the most beautiful crowns ever! Check it out (hehe great excuse to show a wedding photo)...

The crowns from the first photo I picked up at Claire's for about 12 bucks each. Flower crowns are such a great accessory for summer! I think they show off your hair and frame the face really nicely!

Below I am wearing one of my flower crowns, styled my hair using the products listed above, Sunbeam is mixed into my foundation, and I am wearing the Sephora Luster Matte lip in Pink Flush Luster...

Hope you guys enjoyed this post and as always, feel free to contact me with any questions or to book me for your next event!

Vacation Must-Haves

Hey Guys!

We just got back from Cuba yesterday and had a fabulous time! Sometimes packing can be a little stressful for people "What will I need?" "Will I like this on once I get there?" "Have I packed enough?" the list of questions goes on and on. These are three things I ask myself while packing clothes...

1. Have I worn this in the last two months?

Because if you haven't, it's likely that you wont wear it on vacation.

2. Is it comfortable?

To me, comfort is extremely important. Especially on vacation, the worst is bringing a bunch of items that you actually find more trouble then they're worth. Usually comfort has a lot to do with fit. If something fits  well its usually very comfortable if it's too big here or too small there you may fidget with it, which is never comfortable.

3. How many ways can I wear this?

It's important to pack items that can be worn all together. I like to pack things that I know I can wear a couple times in different ways. Creating a new look each time.

Now for some of my must-have travel items...

Tide Travel Sink Packets

As I mentioned earlier, I like to make sure I'm able to wear one item with a few different outfits. Now you may not have to wash the item after wearing it depending, but just incase of a spill or excessive sweating its nice to have to option to do a quick hand wash if need be. I swear by these little guys, you just fill up the sink or bath with warm water and do a quick hand wash of a couple items, rinse and hang to dry.

Tide to-go Stick

Tide to-go sticks are a life saver! I always have one in my purse even when I'm not traveling. But they are especially essential when traveling. During a long day of eating meals on the go a little stain or spill is somewhat bound to happen. I absolutely hate walking around with a stain on my clothes so it's great having one of these on hand for a quick fix!

Beautifying Oil

I'm a moisturizing freak. Especially when I'm vacationing some where sunny. After a long day in the sun all I want to do is shower and drench myself in oil or moisture from head to toe. This Beautifying Oil from the Body Shop is SO convient and amazing. It can be used on your hair, body and face eliminating the need to pack three separate items! It comes in many different classic Body Shop scents. With a very affordable price point of $14 CAN for one bottle!

Jewellery Bag

I love to accessorize so cutting back on the jewellery I pack isn't really an option. But what is an option is packing it in a way that saves a ton of space and is super convient to sift through once you unpack. I have an amazing one from Stella and Dot that I received as a hostess gift for having a party. They sell a ton of great options, I love the Multicoloured Striped Jewellery Roll...

Manicure Set

If you are like me, before I go away I usually get a manicure and pedicure to ensure long lasting groomed nails. But the worst thing is getting a hang nail, breaking a nail, chipping a nail and having nothing to fix it with! So I always bring a little travel manicure set as well as a back of polish (either the colour that your nails are painted or one close to it, to fill chips or repaint if needed). Ton's of options for sets, check out some Sephora offers here.

Now, when it comes to makeup - some may be shocked by this - but I pack extremely light and only bring a few key items. This list only pertains to tropical trips/some where warm and relaxing. Where I know wearing a lot of makeup is just not what I want to do. Now if this was a trip to NYC or Boston, completely different story! I'd probably pack my whole kit ;)

These are the items I pack, click on each to see some of my favourites!

Tinted Moisturizer

Bronzy brown cream eye shadow (or a colour that suits you well)

Blush/Bronzer Brush

Eye brow powder/brush to apply it

Cream Highlighter

Mascara/Liquid Liner

...That's it!

Hope this helped you guys out and maybe gave you some ideas on what to pack for your next vacay! Happy long weekend my lovlies :) Thanks for reading!

Flawless Complexion

Hey Guys!

I have had a few requests about doing a flawless foundation step-by-step so here it is, honouring your inquires! In the past I posted a few youtube videos and I did do one on My Foundation Routine, which by the way is constantly changing! As for my youtube videos I don't know if I plan on getting back into posting them or not. I enjoying blogging and sharing with you guys but I don't know if the youtube thing is for me. When it comes to this industry you have to choose your distinct path. I think doing youtube videos may be taking me in too many different directions. I would like to stay more streamlined in my business as a free-lance artist that has an active social media presence. I think being a youtube makeup artist is a whole other ball game! We will see though, maybe down the road I might pick them up again.

In this post, I'm going to share more of my approach to achieving a flawless complexion on myself as well as my clients. A basic guide for what goes threw my mind when sitting down with a client or at my makeup mirror. Again, every makeup artist is different and this just happens to be my method! In artistic industries like this one, it's important to have your own flare and uniqueness but it's also about being constantly inspired by others.

Step One (and personally the most important step): Skin Care

It is crucial to take care of your skin. This will affect how makeup looks on the skin, how long it lasts and how effective it will be. The three key steps are:

1. Cleanse

2. Exfoliate (whether you use a daily exfoliator that doubles as a cleanser or an exfoliator only to be used 2-3 times a week or as directed)

3. Hydrate

Completing these three steps daily is important to being able to achieve a flawless complexion. Personally I do my cleansing and exfoliating at night and in the morning I use a water cleanser as not to over cleanse/dry out the skin.

I could do a whole other post on skin care in greater detail if you guys would like, but this is the basic information!

Step Two: Creating an Ideal Canvas

With your already clean, moisturized skin you want to apply a base/primer. To me, a base does not have to be a primer it can be many other things. Choose a base that works for your skin, as everyone is different. You can also choose a base based on the look you are trying to achieve. For example, I like to use an illuminating tinted moisturizer as my base. This will create a glow from underneath your foundation. Another option is a self-tanner or a bronzing gel to give an added glow and deepen your complexion (be sure to apply all the way down your neck). You could also use a BB Cream for added coverage or an oil controlling primer if you struggle with oily skin. I apply my base with the same brush I use to apply my foundation but feel free to use something else.

Here is step two, I've just applied my Laura Mercier Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer all over.

Step Three: Foundation Application

Personally, I like to use a kabuki brush or a buffing brush to apply the foundation. I focus my application in the centre of my face blending outward. As most problem areas tend to be in the centre (large pores, spots etc). First off I have applied my foundation where I wish to focus it and in the second shot I have used my kabuki brush to blend it out. Today I am using Make Up For Ever HD Foundation in #155. You will notice it has a bit of a yellow undertone as I am trying to correct the natural redness in my skin.

Step Four: Conceal/Highlight

I choose to do my concealing and some of my highlighting in this next step. First off I conceal any spots or scars with a concealer that matches my complexion. In the next picture I am applying a concealer that is slightly lighter under my eyes and anywhere else I would like to lighten/highlight. Today I am using Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer in Medium as my spot concealer and Benefit Fake Up in Light as my under eye/highlight.

Step Five: Set

Before I go any further I set what I have done with a light dusting of powder. Today I used Mac Mineralize Skin Finish Natural in Medium Plus. You will notice shine is reduced and everything looks a little more matte.

Step Six: Bronzer Blush and Highlight

I have done some posts on this in the past and here is a diagram I have created to help you with your application.

Bronzers I love:

Chocolate Soleil by Too Faced

Hourglass Waterproof Bronzer Superficial

Tarte Matte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer

Blush I love:

MAC Azalea

NARS Seduction

Dior Rosy Glow

Highlighter I love:

Benefit Watt's Up

MAC Eye Shadow in Shroom

Make Up For Ever Shine On

Hope that helped you guys out! As always feel free to contact me! oXo

Eve Lom & Sara Happ

Happy Saturday Everyone!

As I've mentioned before I am traveling a bit with work right now so I do apologize for my lack of posts. Although I'm trying to get them to you on nights alone in hotel beds ;). I was recently in a Murale in Calgary and omg it's my other heaven (first heaven being Sephora). For those of you that have never been to a Murale I highly recommend going. It's just like Sephora in that's it's a product playground but has some different brands to check out. Also, it's Canadian! Which is super great to support.

Of course I wanted to buy everything but I only picked up a couple key items to try. Two things that drew me to these products (which draw me to most products), the packaging and the story behind the brand. And of course the quality of the product, but thats a given. I bought some products from EVE LOM & Sara Happ that I will be chit chatting about in this post!

Dontcha think my hotel comforter made a great back drop for my product photos? I do :)

Sara Happ - One Luxe Balm $25 CAN

Sara Happ started her brand in the kitchen. She was the first to market the "lip scrub" and wanted to create not just another balm but the BEST balm. She has basically created an empire on lips scrubs and lip balms. That's all she sells and she does it well! With all of her products wrapped in her signature "nightstand worthy" gift box and bow, she really knows how to make you feel special when purchasing her product.

Since I have lip scrubs coming out of my ears (lip balms as well actually) I bought the lip balm. I was intrigued by the milky pink colour and the thick luscious texture. This balm is so thick, smooth and hydrating feeling. If you don't like that thick rich texture on the lips it may not be for you. I personally love the texture, also the finish it leaves is so pretty. It gives a milky muted pink colour to the lips, while it's not a cosmetic gloss and not intended to leave colour, it's just so glossy and creamy and looks great on any lip! The inspiration for this gloss is as follows:

The supple feel of a shimmery gold YSL calfskin bag. A bottle of Coco Chanel Mademoiselle. Your favorite camisole; soft, sweet, nude, girly and grand. The world doesn't need another lip balm. It needs the right one. Slip into this. -

Hmm now I'm pretty sure that description sold me right there (I heart Luxury). I've kept the box and the bow because I just can't bring myself to throw it out. The gloss also comes in a tube form for those who prefer it.

EVE LOM - Cleanser (euro prices on the website but check out Murales website for Canadian pricing) I bought the 50mL for $55 CAN you literally need a drop of this stuff!

This is not any old cleanser my friends. It is a solid oil cleanser made up for four aromatic plant oils that warm up in your fingers. You are provided with the full facial massage step by step starting with under and behind your ears and finishing with a sinus massage. You totally don't have to do this every time but it's nice once in a while! You can massage onto dry skin with a full face of makeup, it will break down the makeup and cleanse your skin beautifully. You then take a specially woven 100% cotton Muslin Cloth and soak the cloth in hot hot water, ringing it out and letting it sit on your skin for 5 seconds, repeat 3 times (or just simply remove using downward strokes with the cloth if you don't have time for this pampering step). Finishing by running the Muslin Cloth under cold water and lay over face for 5 seconds to close pores, finish with your creams and what have you!

I am in LOVE. What an amazing cleanser/treat for your face! Leaves your skin feeling so soft and smooth and not dried out at all, like most cleansers. I almost feel like I don't need a serum with this cleanser as it leaves a nice slip for your moisturizer to be applied on.

EVE LOM - Cuticle Cream $25 CAN (literally use the tiniest dab!)

What can I say? Hydrating, protecting, luxurious and long lasting. Put this product on everyday for a week and you wont need it again for a while! Or just pop it one whenever you feel you need it. This cuticule cream protects the skin around the nails and also promotes nail growth. Love it.

Hope you guys enjoyed this post and let me know if there are other EVE LOM/Sara Happ products you have used that you recommend! I am excited to explore more products from both these lines! Happy pampering ;)
